Hi Are you going to connect all the cameras to PCIe cards? You can use built-in USB ports as well. Besides, having PCIe cards with more than 2 ports won't help you, because a single USB controller card can only handle 2 cameras at 60 fps. |

First, you should determine how many cameras you can connect using built-in (motherboard's) USB ports. If there are only USB 2.0 ports, then you probably have 2 USB 2.0 controllers - that's 4 cameras. If you also have USB 3.0 ports - that's additional 2 cameras (on USB 3.0 controller). Next, in each of PCIe slots, you can install an USB controller card with 2 (or more) USB ports. That is another 2 cameras per PCIe slot, 4 in total. Thus, in the best situation you can connect up to 10 cameras to your PC. However, the effective number can be limited by compatibility issues between cameras and USB controllers and overall performance of the system. |
