My daughter got a Nintendo Switch for Christmas, and I read that the tiny Joy-Con controllers each have an accelerometer and gyro-sensor built-in. Could these devices be suitable wrist/hand capture candidates in a future version of Mocap Studio?

If so, that would be cool. The Joy-cons come in pairs, and because they're so small, they should be easier to affix to a headband and gloves.

Just a thought.

Hi, Dennis
Thanks for reminding about those. We've come across them a while back and I think they are worth a thorough study this year.

If that happens. I'll totally buy the Nintendo switch joy-cons for mocap stuff!

+1 add me to the list of people that would like to have this new feature. I own a switch with 4 joy cons in total and I always like when my hardware has multiple use cases. As the newer PS Move controllers don't have the necessary magnetic sensor anymore, a new solution would be good anyway. I hope the joy cons provide everything needed for iPi Motion Capture. When I googled last time, I saw several projects on git. There are now several people working on driver projects for Windows/Joy con, so you should be able to build up on their work.
Thanks for looking into this.

Fantastic! Thanks a lot for making this happen! I just discovered that I somehow missed the updates to this thread. I will test this asap....but it will still take a while as I have some holidays planed right now. But I will definitely test this right after when I'm back.
