Hi,

Would it be possible to add .fbx import-export support to iPi DMC? I've been experimenting with an iPi DMC to Animeeple to LightWave workflow for a few days now, and I'm finding that I get far more complete results when I use Animeeple's .fbx over the .dae format. Also, I've had problems importing iPi .dae files to Animeeple and LightWave. (And to be clear, Animeeple .dae files have been troublesome too.)

FYI, the file exchange problems with .dae files is consistent with what we've found at work when exchanging 3D files between different 3D and compositing programs, and so .fbx has become our de facto standard. If we had the option to export .fbx from iPi DMC, that would make the system even more useful in a production environment.

Thanks for listening!

Greenlaw

Thanks for the feedback.

FBX support is now high in our priority list. Unfortunately, it is a complex format and it will take us some time to implement.

We'll see what we can do with COLLADA (.dae) support, probably we'll be able to come up with some relatively quick solutions for COLLADA.

Thanks Michael!

I'll send information about the issues I'm having with collada and other applications as soon as I can. To be fari, I don't know if the issues I'm running into are related to .dae exporter in iPi DMC or the .dae importer in other programs, but I suspect a little of both.
