As we patiently wait for the undo function (:D) at least autosaving would help a little, and would still be useful in the long run.

For example, in Adobe After effects you can configure the soft to auto-save your project every X minutes, and have a given number of versions (5 for me) so it saves your project and add _1, _2... to the filename. In case of crash or screwing up, you can roll back easily, and you don't need to save every time you make a change.

I hope it's a little bit easier to implement...
