Ok, let me explain what and why I use this so much. It has been my experience that the closer the head is aligned perfectly, the better everything else lines up or falls into place. Yeah, I know, head tracking is a difficult issue, so I do this all by hand, and with the current tools we have for blending everything together, I'm quite happy with the results. So most of my time in creating motion capture is spend going frame by frame and moving the head, then pose refitting the frame. I have developed a way to do this much faster since shortcut keys were introduced, but still need to keep using my mouse to click show skin off and on all the time to match the head up with the head in the video. A shortcut key for Show Skin would really make this a less clicky process.
