So, after viewing this video from Organic Motion, and with a lot of us investing in ps3 cameras, and the new beta supporting kinect, is there the possibility of using both systems together to get a better scan of information?

Mixing Kinect and PS Eye cameras will probably be possible in future versions of our software. There is no fundamental problem with it. However, right now we have a list of higher priority features to implement: release full support for single Kinect (it is in beta now); head tracking; props tracking; speed improvements; FBX; etc. Mixing Kinect and PS Eye cameras is not actually that attractive an option because it combines disadvantages of both worlds: small capture volume of Kinect and complex setup of a multi-camera version. I think a more viable next step would be support for two Kinects at once: if can be a more practical approach because calibration potentially can be fully automatic with multiple Kinects.

you are thinking the wrong way. flip it around. think positive man! how about this.

use a hybrid system for the POSITIVE effects:

ps3 cams to INCREASE the range of the kinect and fill the gaps (shadows)
kinect for calibration free workflow to the ps3 cams (with some overlap from the ps3 cams i bet its possible to synk all cameras with data from the kinect...or not?), faster calculation (50% of the volume calculation for free thanks to the XYZ data from the kinect?? (when subject is in the kinects frame that is))

i bet there are more POSITIVE effects to be gained in merging the two.

combine the advantages instead of the disadvantages, and u get a more appealing result.

thanks
