Hey this feature would be VERY useful when it comes to the XBOX KINECT and ipi recorder.

Basicly using the microsoft sdk voice drivers it would awesome to allow voice recognition to start and stop recording without touching your pc.

Instead of running over to your pc to stop the recording or using your mobile phone to stop it via remote desktop its easier and better to use the kinects mic to do this.

Thankyou and hopefully this feature will be looked at!!

We do not have this feature implemented as of now.

But you can configure your Windows 7 or Windows Vista to do this for you. Latest versions of Windows have integrated voice recognition and you can configure Windows to push buttons in any application in response to voice commands.

One of our users managed to get it working with iPiRecorder and there was a discussion about it in this forum. I will post a link as soon as I find it.

On separate note, what is the benefit of activating/deactivating recording with voice commands? (Other then the obvious "cool factor"). Personally, I never trusted voice recognition, it is so unreliable and clumsy.

I needed this feature because the location of my computer was in view of the cameras and after pressing Record and I would first have to walk across the room to get out of frame to allow for a 'clean' video. This wasted several seconds of recording. With Voice Activation, I can initiate recording while 'off-camera' across the room and away from the computer.

It's also useful to be able stop recording when action is really over instead of wasting another few seconds walking back to the computer and stopping with the keyboard. (This is, of course, assuming you don't have an assistant operating the computer for you.)

It's really not a big deal I guess but it is nice to have as little 'junk' footage recorded in the video.

And, yes, it's pretty 'cool' too. :)
