Hey guys.
If its possible, can the ipisoft 2.0 release have some kind of lens distortion correction built into it for the Nyko wideangle adapters for use with the kinects?

This would really really help a lot.
I need to shoot in confined spaces much of the time and it would really help to have this just built right in. The office here just picked up their copy of ipisoft basic today and I'm looking forward to getting my own copy next month, but this or direct LightWave lwo/lws support would really help me in selling it here in Vancouver to people and make it a clear straight foward choice for me going forward with the other productions I'm doing.
The office im in just dropped modo and maya in favor of lightwave for this production, and are looking into getting motionbuilder to help out, but having i/o support for lightwave would really really make a big difference.

How about it?

Sorry for delay. We are quite busy developing a new version.

We are planning do add Lightwave formats support in 2.0. May be not in initial release, but in the nearest future.
As for wideangle correction, it would be a little bit complicated to implement. And there are many features with higher priority still awaiting. So nope, it's not on our list yet.

Thanks for the heads up. Even though I have a good, reasonably efficient iPi DMC to LW workflow already in place, news of direct Lightwave support obviously interests me too.

The key issue I've run into is that the LW Joints system is not consistent with industry standards. I'm still hoping that Newtek will correct this 'design' as it unnecessarily complicates my workflow. For example, Lightwave expects weightmaps to be offset from a given joint to its child joint, so after exporting an FBX from Lightwave I find I have to 'correct' my rigs in Maya and then re-export my FBX so I can use it with other programs and get the motion data back into Lightwave again. (Alternatively, a user can re-rig a second version of his character incorrectly in Lightwave (but correctly for other applications) and export that as FBX--FWIW, I just find this step quicker to do in Maya.) Technically, I only need to do this 'rig-correction' step once per character but if there are several characters involved and any rig or model changes made during production, it starts to becomes a hassle. Hopefully this issue will get resolved so you guys will be able to treat to iPi Studio LW rigs the same as rigs from other applications.

Anyway, if you would like more info, please feel free to contact me privately.

G.
