Hey guys,

I will try to articulate this idea as best as possible as I know it could get confusing quickly.

I would really like the ability to freeze bones while tracking. It may seem stupid but lets just say I have two errors while tracking, one with a foot and one with a hand. Sometimes I get to fixing one of the errors and then when I come back to fix the other error it throws my previously fixed section out of whack. I guess it can be argued that I should be fixing the foremost error first, keep an eye on it and then fix the next error as it comes while refitting. It would just be nice to be able to say clean up a weird leg section for 20 frames, then freeze the leg for those 20 frames (as in keep the fixed tracking data) then work on a hand error that potentially starts before those 20 frames and ends after it.

I hope that made some sense?

Keep up the good work guys!

Oli

I was thinking the same thing the other day. It would be very useful to be able to 'lock' parts of the body that we don't want re-tracked, especially if something that had to be carefully set manually.

Tip: If I think I'm about to wipe out a carefully set pose, I make a Pose Copy before clicking Refit Pose just to be safe. It's not exactly a solution but sometimes it can come in handy.

Thanks Greenlaw, copying the pose is not a bad idea for now. I think you put it a lot better by saying you could "lock" the bones.

From a UI perspective you could potentially move the video over a little to the left or right and have a "lock box" next to it highlighting the names of the bones which are locked. Make those bones green in the view and hey presto! shame its probably a lot harder than me pseudo coding :D

I completely agree with this idea and I was just about to post the same suggestion. I think this is a critical feature. It would solve a few consistent issues that I have been having:

    - locking the feet in place for footsteps and standing positions. Currently I have to manually try to match the position and rotation in each frame which is impossible with the current interface.
    - locking the feet and hands for climbing a ladder
    - allow me to do a full pass on a take and go back and fix the problem areas afterwards. Currently I have to babysit the processing and watch for any issue.
    - save me a lot of cleanup time in Motionbuilder and make the product more standalone

The interface proposed by Manymotion looks good. I would add a button to "lock all" and "unlock all".
