Post subject:  Delete pose for selected bones on frame

In the course of doing some wrist and finger posings, it would seem handy to be able to just be able to move back and forth in time and delete interval frames between poses, with interpolation in between. So for example I could just lay down a few frames of a fist, then step back deleting as many frames as I required to smooth the transition. Likewise, deleting keyframes forward to unclench the fist.

Right now I am using the ROI and applying Jitter Removal to do the smoothing, which seems kind of blind in terms of timing, and is performing I assume smoothing on the whole arm, not just the wrist and below.

Am I missing something obvious? There is a delete pose, but is simply zero's out the whole body.

I could do these tweaks in Motionbuilder, I lose the immediate convenience of having the reference movies right in context.

So this is a feature request or a request for any workflow tips I've missed.

thanks!

I was experimenting with this a few weeks ago--here's what I recall:

First, use [Copy Pose of Selected Bone's Children] to copy the current hand pose. You can then [Save Pose from Clipboard] to save different hand pose files and build a library of hand poses this way. Then, when you need a specific hand pose, select the hand bone and use [Load Pose from File to Clipboard] and paste the pose to the current frame. I think only the fingers data will be on the clipboard so you may not need to select the hand bone first--give it a try to be sure.

To paste hand poses across multiple frames, use [Paste within ROI] --this should 'clear' the hand poses in-between and it shouldn't affect any bones upstream from the hand.

The above info is pulled from my memory which really isn't the greatest, so be sure to play around with these feature before using it on an actual project.

Hope this helps. My understanding is that the current implementation is a work-in-progress and that iPi Soft is improving this system for a future release.

BTW, if you're using Motion Builder, I would just use that for finger animations.

I think the hand key frames feature to be released in the nearest time is right what you ask for. Watch for updates.

Looking forward to it!

Although, I guess our cats don't really have fingers do they? No matter, I know this feature will come in handy (ha, ha!) on our next film after Brudders 2, which will be our first 'no cats' movie. :)
