It would be cool if there was a feature similar to the head tracking were you check a box and the actor would automatically anchor his/her foot to prevent the feet from skating. Maybe the depth information from the kinect cameras can tell where the floor is or when using HD cameras you can tell the calibrator where the floor points are us that as starting point for the floor. |

The software already detects the ground during the calibration, and decreases foot skating issues. Do you have the project in which there is a noticeable foot skating after tracking in Mocap Studio? However, there are cases when pinning a limb is necessary and is not done automatically. From this prospect, we plan to introduce manual pinning eventually. |

Manual pinning would be extremely useful. One example that immediately comes to mind is that Sister Mocap Test I did a while back. For the most part, the feet are sticking to the ground in this test but when Sister starts jumping forward, her feet slip several inches backwards on each jump. This occurs because the dual Kinect point cloud is pushing the legs backwards and there is nothing behind the legs to keep the feet in place. To fix this problem, I used Motion Builder's feet pinning to keep the feet locked in place for a few frames for each jump. It will be wonderful when the user can do the same thing directly inside of Mocap Studio. Keep up the great work guys! :) G. |

Another place where feet pinning will help is when the actor twists his body while standing--this can cause the feet to twist at the heel because the legs to not roll to accommodate this pose. If the legs could be 'loosened up' a little and the feet made pinnable, that would be very useful in this common situation. G. |

I've got to say I agree. The shaking feet in Ipi does need addressing. It's always a bit of a let down, when the rest of the body moves generally ok. |
