Hi Guys,

Tried this out months back but it was when it was really twitchy, I thought I'd give it another look and to try this out with 3x PSeye cams. Installed today and its telling me the trial has expired and export animation is disabled. When I bring up the ABOUT panel it tells me its evaluation mode which expires 9/20/2010 which is of course a month away?!

Any ideas? I tried removing the registry entries for ipistudio in case it had got it wrong and it resets things as far as I have to agree to the EULA again and re-enter my key, which it then says has expired?

Is there some other files stored somewhere thats tripping it up? As it seems to download each time I run it, I assume its not located anywhere on my machine (other than the thing that calls the net app)

Regards,

Well I'm not part of iPi but...

Even if it was an old version, in other terms, you already installed it and used your trial period, no ? So that sounds normal. Even if the version has changed, the base is the same.

When installing, did you enter the same key you used months ago ?

I can't even be certain it was on this install of windows (might not have been on Win7 then).

I got my key from the user control panel of this forum.

I believe ipistudio has been updated since I last tried it (hence the idea to try it out to see if it now meets my needs). surely you would get a new key to try a different demo?

Well I don't know how the key/registration system works (and I don't have to know :P) but it's possible it's partly online-based, so it wouldn't depend on your machine or install.

Still, if it's about trying iPi studio itself, you still can with the demo version ; you just won't be able to export. But you'll be able to see how much it has changed, if it's more successful in capturing, etc.

As for getting a new key, I'll let iPi guys make a definitive answer.

I believe Earlack is correct: the trial license countdown begins with the first activation, not for each installation. Even after expiration, you can still use nearly all the features though, you just can't save the results. That's pretty common for evaluation software.

(Just curious, does movie output get disabled too? Or just mocap output?)

If you want to test some sample iPi mocap data for other programs, I believe there are files you can download from the website. Also, I posted sample .bvh, .dae, and max files here for others to test:

http://newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101917&page=14

Scroll down to message #198. If you learn anything interesting from these files, please post the info in these forums.

Hope this helps.

(Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I"ll upload the test data here later today. I haven't been able to do much testing here lately, so I don't mind sharing my data if others can test it too.) :)

G.
