Post subject:  iPi Recorder system reboot when Kinect V2 plugged in

I have recently started having the issue that whenever I plug in a Kinect V2 while iPi recorder is open, my PC will completely reboot. This has not always been the case on my PC. Back when I started using iPi recorder, everything worked fine. The issue first happened in version 4.4.4.81, but I have found that the same thing happens in version 4.2.0.70. Also, Kinect studio works fine, so the problem does not seem to be related to the Kinect V2 SDK.

Here is exactly what happens. I have replicated this result 5 times without fail:
iPi recorder works normally as long as no Kinect is plugged in. As soon as a sensor is connected, however, the program will refresh to load the new device, crash, and send the computer into a restart. The same thing occurs if iPi recorder is opened while a Kinect is already connected. In the older version that I tried, refreshing was not automatic, so nothing changed until I hit the refresh button, after which the same restart happened.

Here are my system specs:
Windows 10
Intel i5
Nvidia GTX 1060 3gb
8gb RAM

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi

What is the exact version number of Windows? You can find it in the trace window of iPi Recorder (icon in the top-right corner).

Does iPi Recorder show a crash report window before sending the PC into reboot? If so, please send the contents displayed. Otherwise check application logs in Windows Event Viewer for events related to crashes of iPiRecorder.exe.

Try to use libfreenect drivers instead of Kinect SDK v2 for working with Kinect in iPi Recorder.

Here is what was in the trace window:

iPi Recorder 4.2.0.70

OS: Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.18362.0 (64 bits)
.NET: 4.7.2.528040
CPU count: 4
GC: workstation (Interactive)
Running in 64 bits

iPi Recorder never showed a crash report, and I was not able to find a mention of iPi Recorder in Event Viewer. However, I have found critical events for every time the system crashed, with the description "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." Here are the full event details:

- EventData

BugcheckCode 30
BugcheckParameter1 0xffffffffc0000005
BugcheckParameter2 0xfffff807433eb397

Have you tried using libfreenect which I referenced in previous post?
Also you may first try disabling all other camera types in iPi Recorder.

I uninstalled the Microsoft Kinect drivers and made sure only libfreenect usbdk was installed. I also disabled all camera types other than Kinect using libfreenect. Once I plugged in a sensor, the same exact thing happened.

Actually, I meant leaving only Microsoft Kinect 2 active (which uses Kinect SDK).
Also please check libfreenect with libusbK driver.
