Hi, and thanks for allowing this post. For the sake of understanding this was the context of this message, copied and pasted from the previous one. If the moderators prefer they may also delete it. I would do it if I could, just to un-clutter the message board. And sorry again for this. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I tried for two days to send live link data to an unreal 4 mannequin and this is the result. My setup is: 2 kinect XBOX 360. Intel i9 9900k, 32 gb, 2070 rtx and 512 ssd. So my understanding is that there is something not really working well when I try to "see" the mannequin in U4 working. As you see in the video, everything seems to be quite acceptable on IPI Studio. You see I have 28-30 fps. When I go to U4 you can see how everything starts to lag. Is it just bare computing power? Is it about GPU? CPU? Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks! Alex |

I have been reading the forum extensively. Understood that the GPU is important while recording and less with the Studio. My CPU was having issues with the cooling part. It was actually faulty and I have read that the temperature of the CPU could ipact negatively the FPS. Tomorrow I should receive a new cooling system for the PC and in the next few days I will also receive two new kinect V2. I will update you on results. thanks. Alessandro |

quick update: CPU cooling system is now ok, benchmarks seem fine. Tried with one Kinect V1, same very bad input lag results. Waiting for Kinect v2. I'll keep you posted. Thanks! alessandro |

After few months of testing I can finally give an overall vision. CPU is ok, if you have a 9900K is more than fine. Tracking is ok with one kinect v2 but you need a good positioning and try and error is the best way. sometimes you want to be more precise on the lower part, so you lower the height. You rarely need it to be too high. Will try soon with two Kinect v2. IMPORTANT: Kinect v2 need an adapter and I suggest it to be genuine as the cheap one you can find may fry your Kinect V2 sensor. It happened to us. Whereas the genuine sensor+adapter is working fine. GPU wise: I bought a 4080 just to be sure. I saw a substantial increment in the readiness, the promptness. I mean: when I rise a arm it rises in real time. But there is little to no difference in the quality of the tracking. Hence we are going to try with two Kinect v2 although I realised not all kinect have the same cleaniness of reading. Some of them look a little bit more "noisy" than others. I did not see an increase in performance keeping the case cooler. I really look forward for the 2 Kinect V2 testing in few days |
