| Post subject: | Kinect clip not opening in iPiStudio : |
Hello ! Now, I don't know how, I was able to record a video with good frame rate and not too many drops ! ( I hope this keep working in my next tests ! ) But, when I copy the kinect clip to my other ( main ) computer, and try to open the clip in iPi Studio, an error message that reads : "Connot open file" appears when I want to open a kinect clip I have recorded. I don“t know if this could be an installarion problem , a registry problem, etc. The kinect clips play ok via Media Player Clasic. Windows Media PLayer was not able to playback the kinect clips, but Media PLayer Classic opnened the clips without problems. I disabled Windows Player for now, just in case, but there must be something else wrong, that prevents iPi Studio from opening my kinect clips. THanks in advance for your help, Gabriel |

Hi. Just borrowed a Kinect so I could try this software. I was really excited and just needed to see it work before buying it, however I haven't been fortunate enough to get that far. Would love to be able to recommend this for where I work. I've had my eye on this for ages but it only became viable for me once Kinect support came in. In iPi recorder everything seems to work. I press record, I stop the recording. After that is where it all seems to fall apart. If I go to the folder where the video lives I get a Windows Explorer crash if I try to open the file or if Windows even tries to make a thumbnail of it. In iPi Studio when I try to open the file I get an error that says "Cannot open file <file location>. Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that memory is corrupt." I've tried this on different harddrives, same result. At first I thought it was some kind of codec problem but ipiRecorder appears to be writing uncompressed video files (am I wrong?) Any and all help is appreciated as I'm on the demo so my clock is counting down. I've searched the forum and found similar problems but couldn't quite find an answer. Thanks -Akira Kenobi |

I am pretty sure this problem is caused by a broken video codec installation on your PC. iPiStudio uses DirectShow video playback infrastructure and therefor is vulnerable to video codec problems. Even if you are writing an uncompressed video its playback may be affected by broken AVI Splitter installation. Usually, this happens when you install third-party (non-Microsoft) video codecs. You can find a summary of the troubleshooting methods for this problem in our Wiki: http://www.ipisoft.com/en/wiki/index.ph ... leshooting Please let me know if it helps. Sorry for this problem. We will work on a more reliable solution in future versions, but it will take some time because we will have to replace DirectShow video playback infrastructure. |

Wow, well simply installing the XP codec pack fixed that. Thanks a lot! It's looking impressive already. |

Bumping this. I seem to have the same problem. I'd rather not install the XP Codec pack. Could you tell me which specific codec that needs to be installed? I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I can play the captured videos fine in Windows Media Player. |

Theoretically only the AVI Splitter filter from XP Codec Pack is required to fix this problem. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Avi_Splitter.htm |
