Please try to uninstall all Kinect-concerned drivers and after that reinstall iPi Recorder according to the following instructions: http://www.ipisoft.com/en/wiki/index.php?title=Quick_Start_Guide_with_MS_Kinect_Sensor#iPi_Recorder

and I'm still getting the same "error"

Hm. A few hours ago we have released new version. Could you please try the following steps:
  • unplug Kinect from computer
  • go to the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the following items: "iPi Recorder" and "PrimeSensor Driver (psdrv3) Registration for MS Kinect"
  • (note that if there is no item "PrimeSensor Driver (psdrv3) Registration for MS Kinect" in the list of installed programs then let us know please)
  • reboot
  • download the latest version of iPi Recorder from our web site (it should be 1.6.0.79)
  • then install it according to instructions http://www.ipisoft.com/en/wiki/index.php?title=Quick_Start_Guide_with_MS_Kinect_Sensor#iPi_Recorder

also I have another question is it required for me to install OpenNI or all I need to do is install iPi Recorder?

There is no need to install Open NI. Installer of iPi Recorder contains all required components.

Mystic.

Does RGB streaming work? To check it please click button "View RGB/Depth" in iPi Recorder.

It seems for some unknown reason Depth stream is not starting with your device. iPi Recorder uses simplified initialization sequence to start Depth stream from Kinect. May be your device in some "special" state and some additional commands are required.

Tip: you can uninstall iPi driver, install Brekel and Open NI, test work of Kinect with them, after that just run iPi Recorder. It should work with drivers for Brekel because it's one and the same driver from PrimeSense. The only thing that will not work in this situation is Kinect motor adjustment from iPi Recorder.

It looks like some USB bandwidth issues. Try to turn off RGB stream:
