Post subject:  CODEC PROBLEM

Hi, I've just bought a new Logitech camera and wanted to use my both Logitech cameras in iPi Recorder. It stops recording the video after I press the START VIDEO RECORDING button.

So in my recorded videos folder I have a 0,5 seconds recorded video.

I wanted to choose a Xvid codec and change the resolution to 320*240 but I suddenly made a mistake by choosing the WRONG CODEC (yv12). And I cannot record anything, iPi Recorder crashes with the words: "iPi Recorder has encountered a problem and needs to close..."

I was wondering If I can delete or reinstall the application somehow. But every time I restart iPi Recorder I have the same codec SELECTED, it's “yv12”. And I CANNOT CHANGE IT BACK to DEFAULT or Xvid.

So the question is:
How can I select another codec if iPi Recorder crashes when i want to do it?

Would appreciate any help.

Please use RegEdit and delete the "codec" value under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\iPi Soft\iPiRecorder" registry key. This should fix your problem.

I don't think you can install Xvid for Quicktime. Xvid is implemented as a "Video for Windows" codec and as a DirectShow codec. QuickTime has its own technology for codecs and plugins.

I am curious why would you need Xvid for QuickTime? You can view Xvid videos using Windows Media Player or VLC Player.

Where can I download a compatible codec for my Windows Media Player 11? Whenever I open my wmp, a small window pops up and it says something like "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Can someone please tell me where I can download the supported codec?

Just for sure, are you trying to open video that has been previously recorded with iPi Recorder?

Try to install one of the popular codec packs:
