Just got a Kinect yesterday and was trying it the demo with it. Tracking works great and is easy!

I want to be able to animates a Michael 4 model from Daz3D in Poser Pro 2012.

When I output the model as a bvh ans then import it into ipisoft the bones are all over the place and it looks crazy. The animation doesn't look right because the model is mangled.

When I import any of the Poser model models that come with poser 2012 Pro they all look fine just like in the Truebones animations.

There a specific Motion transfer settings file that i need or is it something else?

Do I have to use Daz Studio instead of Poser to make my life easier ?? (that would suck because I just bought Poser Pro.....,)??

Thanks in advance for your help

Just import a skeleton that is compatible with M4 characters into iPiSoft under the export tab.

If you need a Targeting skeleton for Poser, I can supply you with one.

I have one seperate for each Poser and Daz.

It should be no problem.

Also you may need to set up the bones profile by selecting each corresponding joint under the export tab with a pull down choice for each joint. Then save the profile as a .XML file.

Try exporting a DAE or FBX out of DAZ as your target character.

Does PoserPro Export FBX? You might try that as well.

THanks and Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply (Yaaa!)

You are Mr.iPisoft !!! I found your youtube videos very illuminating.

I have spent the last 8 hours figuring out who this thing works. I can do everything but export a useful file....,

Okay, so I don't have a clue about renaming bones but I have been staring at the bvh file (opened in notepad) but I got nothing.

Your file would help so please send when you have a chance pls.

Will it work for both M4 and V4.2 ?

UPDATE

It seems like the Victoria 4.2 export works between iPisoft and Poser Pro 2012 with no problem. A node in the face and one in the right finger are messed up but those are not tracked anyways and it looks good in Poser.

M4 doesn't want to cooperate...., he is being difficult. Actors...., I tried to play around with his motion transfer profile (mtp) by exporting the file from the mangled m4 in iPisoft then opened it in notepad- After changing the names to match what was in the Poser heirarchy menu the mtp file was cleaned up and showed me that there are two skeletons and moth are messed up!

I think i hav figured it out.

I got the free version of Daz Studio, loaded up M4 (the Daz version, not the Poser version), and then exported a bvh with default settings. Then in iPisoft I import that Daz Studio M4 bvh and retarget just like in Truebones instructions.

It works okay, just like V4.2

Can't wait to get a second Kinect !!!!

Hope this helps out someone else with similar problem.- I had to get out from behind the computer and exercise to get this idea...,

Hey MrBones,

I don't suppose you could set up a download link on your site for the Targeting skeletons for Poser and Daz could you?

I just want to run some tests on my own project next week, and I'm thinking these may be useful.

If a link's not possible, then can you drop me an email with them attached?

Much appreciated :)

Please let clarify my instructions for making a suitable bvh skeleton for retargeting in iPisoft:

1- get the free Daz Studio program

2-Load up (the free) Michael or Victoria Version 4 model

2- Export a bvh to a place you can easily find it and don't change any of the default settings

3-When you want to import the target skeleton into iPisoft, please use the bvh from Daz Studio you just made

4- Play back and make sure you don't have any more smoothing or sharpening to do

5- Output from iPisoft and you have a working bvh for Michael and Victoria 4 in Poser

DONE!
