Ok so I've trialed and errored this enough, with no luck to speak of. I have 2 Kinects, and want to get calibration right. So I record video, and move the plane around (the 30-90 degree configuration). I get confused in loading video into the studio program. I have a marker, on the floor, directly in the middle where the wall meets the floor, behind me. With the studio grid, I line up the centre line of the grid with that marker, using the orbit and move tools under the scene tab. I do that with both cameras. Is this the right thing to do? So when I go View>Show depth from all sensors, the sensor renderings of me dont quite match up.. What exactly is required here to get a clean calibration? Whe reviewing the resultant calibration, after processing, the dots flash in not quite the same positions..WHats a reasonable margin of error in reviewing the resultant calibration after processing? The User guide at http://wiki.ipisoft.com/User_Guide_for_ ... figuration Doesn't say what is good and usable and what isnt, it just says to review it.. My dots are mostly green, occasionally red and yellow, but the dots never exactly match position... Is this a good calibration to move forward from? Please see attached pic. Thanks http://deepwater3d.com/downloads/IsThis ... ration.jpg AaronC PS being able to upload images directly to the forum would be a lot less hassle for forum users. |

Is this the right thing to do? That does not hurt but also does not help. Calibration is completely automated with dual-Kinect setup. You should just choose approximate angle between sensors and click "Calibrate". http://wiki.ipisoft.com/images/8/8e/Dua ... -start.png AaronC wrote: Is this a good calibration to move forward from? Please see attached pic. Thanks http://deepwater3d.com/downloads/IsThis ... ration.jpg Most probably this is good calibration. Kinect's accuracy varies depending on range. It has good accuracy at close range (1 meter or closer) and poor accuracy at long range (4 meters away). If your calibration is off a bit that may be normal. What drivers do you use? Please be aware that you can have higher accuracy with Microsoft's drivers (because Microsoft's drivers can use additional calibration information stored in Kinect's firmware). To get Microsoft's drivers working, you may need to remove "PrimeSense driver registration for Kinect" and install Kinect SDK. |

I have just been using the default iPi recorder install with PrimeSense, and have just now downloaded and installed the Kinect SDK. I uninstalled the PrimeSense driver first using the windows control panel, and now when I run the iPi recording application it still reads the kinects ok, so does this mean I have successfully switched drivers? Thanks AaronC |

Brilliant, thanks, we're good to go. Looking forward to V2! AC |
