Hi, we tried to use 6 PS3, but there always one of then not working.
we have 2 VIA usb card installed on PCI slot. but it seems there is still probelm.
5 PS3 camera is ok.
CPU : Intel Core-i5
Motherboard : Ausu P8Z68-V LX (Intel Sandy Bridge)
Memory: 8 GB Kingstone DDR1333MHz
SSD : Samsung 830 256 GB
USB Hub : 2 extra VIA USB 2.0 Hub installed on 2 PCI slot

Is it caused by the PCI USB Hub? any suggested USB Hub?
Thanks.

Just to be sure, how many actual USB controllers do you have? The general rule of thumb is two PS3 Eye cameras per USB controller--using a usb hub doesn't change the fact that you may only have two usb controllers, in which the 'safe' limit is still four cameras. With version 2.0, the data stream has been significantly optimized which may explain why you can capture from 5 cameras but that may be pushing the limit if you don't have enough controllers.

If you add another USB controller card, six cameras may be fine. However, this may also depend on the speed/bandwidth of your computer and capture drive.

FYI, on my computer I can do six but I'm using two USB 3.0 controller cards in addition to the two onboard USB 2.0 controllers, plus an SSD for data capture. iPi recommends a six core system but with this additional hardware I'm able to do this with a quad core system.

If the above info doesn't apply in your situation, try switching the cameras. Is it always the same camera that doesn't work? If so, perhaps the camera is faulty.

Hope this helps.

G.

Can you be more specific: what is "not working"? Not shown in iPi Recorder, black image in iPi Recorder? How it looks in Device Manager?
Just to be sure: check each camera that it is not defective, connecting it one at a time.

The PCIe cards you mentioned are indeed controllers, not hubs. They should be OK.
Have you tried all possible USB port combinations?
15m cable may also be the issue. Are all cameras connected with such lengthy cables, or just few of them? If latter, is "not working" cam always one of these lengthy?

6 Camera connected to PC, but only 4-5 camera detected on ipi soft. sometime 6, but the one connected to PCI USB controller will disapper after one minute.

Generally Camera connect to motherboard USB is OK, only those connect to PCI USB controller have problem.

I've tested PS Eye connected to all USB controllers available to me. Here are the results:
  • USB2 integrated in Intel P67 Express chipset - OK
  • USB3 on motherboard (NEC µPD720200) - OK
  • USB3 on PCIe card (VIA VL800) - huge bad frame number (about 50%)
  • USB2 on PCI card (VIA VT6212) - OK

So it seems that there is some compatibility issue with PS Eye and VIA VL800 USB3 chip. Try to get PCIe USB card on NEC chip.
