This is known issue with Kinect SDK 1.5. This issue has been fixed in Kinect SDK 1.6.
Also please note that for distances more than 4 meters (13 feet) the accuracy of depth data becomes extremely low. Thus it's not practical to shoot motions at a greater distance. In iPi Recorder it's denoted by the red color in a depth map.
If you need big capture volume, then PS Eye based solution is more practical.
