Hi,

First, thank you iPi Soft for addressing the feet clipping and ground plane issues reported previously!

This morning, I had to quickly record a mocap for our short film and this was my first time with the new Ground Plane Detection using iPi Recorder 2.1.4.21. The new Ground Plane Detection seems to be working well--I am definitely see a lot more 'feet' now. :)

I have one question about this feature--because of improved accuracy, does this mean the Ground Plane now slightly lower than it was in previous versions? If so, I assume the height of the actor probably should go back to actual height. The reason I ask is because I think I'm seeing slight shoulder/spine issues that I wasn't getting before and I was using the 'shorter than actual size' actor setup previously recommended.

I'll test this more thoroughly later. It's difficult to test Recorder with Kinect during the day because the lighting in the room changes often and we get IR pollution from outdoors even with the blinds closed. That's not an iPi Mocap Studio issue of course--it just means I need to test this at night. Will let you know how it goes this evening.

For now, I think we have what we need for this shot.

G.

I finally found time to do a little comparison between shorter and actual size actors with the data from the new iPi Recorder. It looks like the shorter actor is still the way to go...the difference it subtle in this particular case but I see a few 'twitches' in the actual size actor project that don't exist in the shorter actor project using the same data.

This is not a conclusive test because the motion does not specifically address the issues I brought up a couple of months ago, plus, the data for this shot is not as clean as I'd like (because of the IR pollution,) but I thought users might still like to hear about it.

Regardless of the above, the result from this morning's shoot looks fantastic. :)

I'll post again tonight after I have time to do a focused test.
