Hey there guys!
My name is Felix, I'm a 3d artist from Berlin.

I've been doing some mocap testing with the trial version for a week now and liked the results i got from my xBox Kinect so much that i bought another Kinect (this time a Kinect for Windows) to solve some of the occlusion issues I was getting witht he single sensor setup.
Now I've tried to connect the two device to my Notebook (Dell Studio XPS 1645, with 2 USB 2.0 controllers), which didn't work. The Kinects even produced a problem in the device manager so I guess there's something wrong with the controllers themselves. So I tried to get my desktop machine running with 2 Kinects.
Problem is, I still get that bloody "two kinects are using the same USB"-message from iPi eventhough they clearly don't (see attached image). I can plug and unplug all I want: a single sensor is ALWAYS working (even if it sits in the exact USB-port that was labeled "insufficient" before) and two sensors NEVER work at the same time.
Any help or idea with this is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Felix

Hi, Felix
From the Device Manager screenshot I see two things worth noting:
  • There are "Kinect for Windows" and "PrimeSense" device groups. That means you have both Kinect SDK and PrimeSense drivers for Kinect. This may cause improper work of Kinect devices. Please choose one of the drivers to use (Kinect SDK is preferred), and uninstall other.
  • There is also an USB 3.0 controller on your PC. Have you tried connecting one of Kinects to an USB 3.0 (usually blue) port?
