Hi,
It's been a while since I commented on the spine issue but today I may have something new to report on the subject.
When tracking, I'm still seeing that 'side-bending spine' issue--in truth, it never really went completely away, even with the return of the 'Stiff Lower Spine' method. Previously, this was mostly noticeable when seated or when crouching but I'm seeing it even when standing erect. It's much better now but it's still a problem.
The real cause of this problem appears to be the difference between my actual body proportions vs the ideal iPi Actor rig. When I use my actual height or slightly shorter for the Actor, the spine gets compressed and bends slightly to one side or the other, or it causes the hips to sway strangely to one side. If I reduce the skeleton's height further so that the spine can straighten out inside the volume, then the feet will lift off the ground and they may wiggle around because now there is no longer contact with the floor. With the rigid actor proportions we are currently limited to, I'm having to accept that it's impossible for me to set an ideal height for the Actor in iPi Mocap Studio. This is frustrating because I know the software is fully capable of tracking better results.
I understand that you guys are not planning to release a fully customizable Actor until version 3.0, but I'm still hopeful that you will release a slightly more configurable skeleton for 2.0. It would help me immensely on our current production if I could just resize the spine and/or the legs slightly to better reflect my true body proportions.
Thanks for listening.
