i tried to capture my son. because ipi model body ratio does not fit him tracking is not successful as when actor is me. is it possible to change bone sizes? you can see the problem in this image; http://www.flickr.com/photos/40553949@N06/8718524108/ |

This is a widely discussed problem. We plan to add more customization capabilities regarding actor model in v3. |

Nice chart :) It may be helpful. You should understand that we cannot give all the new features for free. We make living from the selling of the software. |

It's tricky. My daughter and I did this when she was five years old. Mocap with small child (1 meter tall) I had to scale the model down to 1 meter. It worked for the most part but this was probably the trickiest tracking test I've ever had to do in Mocap Studio. Actually, this example was created back in iPi Desktop Motion Capture 1.0. In Mocap Studio 2.0, I find that the bending spine issue described elsewhere makes it a little harder to track in 2.0. I think a fully adjustable rig would solve this issue. G. |

P.S. i am trying to get this feature free :-) don't make it the the best for now. at least add simplest feature that makes it better. at v3 you can add fully customizable skeleton. so we can use it also for nonhuman creatures :-) i will try track it twice. one with arms fitting on with others fitting. then i will combine results. |

In the mean time, you may need to resize the skeleton for different actions by the performer, adult or child. I'm having to do this for our current production--sometimes I even have to change the scale in the middle of a motion to keep the spine from bending sideways. For example, when I'm in a standing pose, I need to use a taller actor for tracking to keep the feet on the ground but when sitting or crouching, the actor needs to be shorter to keep the spine from bending and to prevent the feet from breaking out of the scanned volume. It's not an ideal situation but with patience and practice, it's doable and not terribly difficult. Thankfully, many actions (i.e., almost anything but my daughter's crazy cat dance in the above example above,) should track fairly smoothly with the current system. Hopefully, we'll have an easier time with this in 3.0 but I imagine that's still a ways off. G. |
