It is not necessary at all. However, if you feel more comfortable with proper alignment of grid with walls or objects on the floor, you can rotate the actor's model around vertical axis and hit the "Recenter coordinate system on character" button at the "Scene" tab.

This should not bother you. The grid is just clipped by video image rectangle which is automatically positioned so that the actor's model is fully visible.
