When I try to open a video (wmv format) the software hangs for awhile then crashes:

"ipistudio has encountered a problem and has to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

This happens on Vista, WinXP 64 and WinXP 32 - three different computers.

It works fine if the WMV is converted to an AVI.

you will need the right codec for the software to recognize it.

If I am correct AVI MPEG and XVID are the ones needed.

You will need to read the tutorials, it will save you the time.

More specifically, I believe the codec needs to be able to save and play data as whole frames (like MJPEG) for the tracker to work properly. (IMO, this is another good reason for iPi Studio to accept image sequences in .png or .tga format.) I think if you use a codec that only saves changes from frame to frame, that may make the data messy for the tracker, assuming it can read it all. This has been my assumption anyway.

This problem is caused by incorrect video frame index in WMV file (common problem with videos encoded using Windows Media codecs).

Easiest way to fix it is to convert the video to uncompressed AVI.
