Post subject:  I can no longer calibrate my 6 camera rig.

The last month calibration has gotten worst. I have a rig with 6 cameras and I can no longer calibrate. I have all my calibration footage so I went back a few months to a session I have a successful .XML file and decided to experiment. I ran the calibration and it fails. I spend 5 hours trying to figure out what is going on. I do notice that cameras 1 2 3 are in their proper position but 4 5 and 6 cameras are off to the point of not even being close to the other camera. If I run the calibration again, 1 2 3 will be off and 4 5 6 are fine. I can calibrate 4 cameras without a problem. Any ideas on what is going on. Nothing has change on my machine. I even did a fresh installation of the software, re-images the workstation and removed all software but my 3d Package and ipi soft Recorder and Mocap studio.

Do you have the "Auto detect initial camera positions" option enabled? For 5+ cameras, using this option may lead to failed calibration.
In this case, disable it and manually move the cameras to their approximate positions before running the calibration. See details in our wiki:

I did have it enabled at the first run, I turned it off after it failed and ran the calibration again. I normally have the cameras setup as close to the original placement as possible. But since my studio is shared I have to breakdown the cameras. However, I do save the .xml files.

In theory, shouldn't using an existing .xml file that is close to the placement of the camera be the same as manually moving the cameras within the software?

So far the calibration has failed each time giving the same results. I have performed 2 calibrations passed with the flash light and both have failed. I went back a few months back using footage I have successfully created a .xml file and did some test, now the calibration for those footage are not working.

upload your calibration video to check if I can calibrate your cameras. also give me details like the height of the cameras, the distance between camera 1 and 2 and how they are placed

Camera distance 1and 2 = 2.63

Camera 1= 1.82
Camera 2= 1.25
Camera 3= 1.25
Camera 4= 1.82
Camera 5= 1.25
Camera 6= 1.25

Counter Clockwise

Is 300 MG to large to upload? The upload status bar is just going and going.....

Could it be the resolution are set differently on the 4 5 6 camera? I didn't bother checking when I was in the studio and I won't be able to use the studio again in a few weeks.

It's better to use file sharing services like DropBox for video files.

iPi Recorder sets the same resolution for all the cameras. But what may differ is the FOV setting of the cameras - it should be on the blue dot ("wide").

Dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/zsycso1771hto ... 1.iPiVideo

FOV on cameras are set correctly. I checked that.
