Hi, windows auto update installed Sep 2014 servicing stack update for Win 8.1. After that, iPiRecorder has a tough time loading. It takes a long time to get to the record screen with my kinect feeds. One of the kinects does not connect properly. Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2989647) I uninstalled these updates under Control Panel/Programs/Programs and Features/Installed Updates Restarted my machine with automatic updates turned off, and iPiRecorder is back to normal. Any thoughts? Definitely something to look into. Thanks, Adnan Hussain http://www.madguru.com |

BTW, have not asked you, is that Kinect for Windows or for XBOX 360? Is there any error shown in Device Manager for non-working sensor? |

This was using Kinect for 360. I did not check the device manager. |

Hello! We investigated this issue. Indeed on Windows 8.1 with latest updates there're some oddities of Kinect behaviour:

Thanks for the update. Hopefully a solution can be found. I can only imagine how tough it must be to debug. Thanks for your efforts. I've noticed the same slowdowns in frame rates for kinects, freezing, or color or depth dropping out in recorder. I think there is an overall slowdown in Mocap Studio with these updates as well. I have to do further testing, but updates KB2989647 and KB2894856 might be ok. It is the third one from the last few days that may be the issue. I removed it, and things seem to be better. Will test further. Adnan |

On further testing, I had to remove all updates security and otherwise for Windows 8.1 for the month of September in order to get things working as they should. Adnan |
