Hi,

IpiRecorder has been crashing lately during background evaluation when using 5 PS Moves with 2 BT doogles (with MotioninJoy) and 2 xtion pro lives.

Are you trying to run 5 PS Eyes with 2 Xtions at same time, is this what you're trying, or do you mean 2-Xtions OR 5-PS Eyes used for separate background evals?

I am sure you can't mix cameras for a single background eval.

It's 5 PS Moves ;).

I can get it to work but sometimes it will just crash many times in a row and then work again.

Ahh ok, I re-read and see that now, my head saw PS Eyes the first time :)

PS Moves don't even get accounted for in the background evaluation process, but I don't know that 2 dongles can be run at the same time, this may be contributing to the issue, you should be able to run 6 Moves off one dongle.

MiJ states only one dongle can be run and rest should be turned off or unplugged.

If you do get it to work sometimes the way you have it set up now, try it with just 1 dongle and see if works.

Just curious but why are you capturing data for 5 Moves? Unless I'm mistaken, the current version of iPi Mocap Studio only lets you associate 3 Moves per actor, and you can only record a single actor with Xtion.

This is possibly some USB/driver related issue. Try arranging BT dongles and Xtions onto separate USB controllers (for that, you should have 3 at least).

I think I've already checked if one dongle can detect more than 4 PS Moves and I think I read somewhere that it can't. I'll check again.

I use 5 PSMoves to record the feet orientations too :) but Ipi Mocap Studio is definitely not meant for that. So I have to use many tricks to get reliable data and it takes time. IpiSoft should someday give people the possibility to use PS Moves for the feet cause I think it's where its Mocap data can be improved at least when using Kinect-like cameras. I don't know if feet orientations are tracked correctly with PS Eyes. When you use Ipi Mocap Studio for dance it's very important to get very accurate feet orientations. For the rest of the body the soft is great.

I'll see if things improve when changing ports. It's a very random issue. I feel like sometimes changing which camera starts evaluating the background stops the issue. Moreover Ipi Recorder has never crashed while recording an action.
