Probably you've installed Kinect Runtime, not SDK. Kinect Runtime does not support Kinect for XBOX.
Please download and install Kinect SDK 1.6 from this link:

Hello!

If you still have this issue, please provide us with the following screenshots:
  • Device Manager with expanded node Microsoft Kinect when Kinect device is plugged to the computer
  • list of installed programs (Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs) around item Kinect for Windows SDK 1.6

I'm getting this intermittently as well. When I installed the newest iPi Recorder, did it install the wrong SDK or is the installer smart enough to know I'm using two Xbox Kinects? Like I said it'll work for a while, then bring up the "not official" warning.

OK, so just started getting this issue myself :(

Same situation as the others and the above recommendations don't resolve the issue for me, any other ideas please?

Thank you :)

I see that you have PrimeSense drivers for Kinect installed as well. It is very likely that there's a conflict between Kinect SDK drivers and those ones. Try uninstalling one of them.

Regarding installing the developer kit.
List of programs shows that you already have Kinect SDK and Kinect Developer Kit v1.8. And what fails to install is Kinect Developer Kit v1.6 - the wrong version. You should download v1.8 if you want to repair installation.
In any case, I don't recommend you to fall back to an older version of Kinect SDK.
