Hello, I'm new to MoCap with the Kinect, but not to computers. I will be as clear and detailed as I can.
Problem: The "Camera Select" window (Choose cameras to be used) does not show the Kinect Camera. It shows only the laptop's built-in camera (Sony Visual Communication Camera). No other selection is available.
My Computer: Vaio Laptop, Win 7 Home premium, Intel Core i7 CPU Q 740 @ 1.73 GHz, RAM 6.00 GB, 64-bit Operating System, NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M.
Program & Drivers:
iPi Recorder iPi Soft Microsoft DirectX SDK (June 2010) Microsoft Kinect for Windows SDK Beta
Status: When I plug in the the KINECT via its powered USB cable, directly into the laptop's USB ports, I hear the three distinct connection/recognition sounds. The Devices and Printers window show: Renesas Electronics USB 2.0 Hub, Xbox NUI Motor, USB Composite Device, Microsoft Kinect Camera.
The green LED light on the Kinect blinks, and the green light on its power cable is on.
The Device Manager shows ALL devices are working.
My attempts to get this working, have been without success. I have tried the following:
Rebooted
Unplugged Kinect from USB port and tried 2nd USB port. Unplugged powered cable and USB then plugged them in again. Tried ALL variations of this several times. I am only using the USB powered cable that came with the Kinect.
Device Manager says all USB ports are working.
In the "Choose Cameras to be used" window, only one camera is available, the "Sony Visual Communication Camera" -- the Vaio laptop's built-in camera.
I tried selecting the laptop's camera -- which gives me a WORKING, live, feed. This, of course, is not the camera I need! Therefore I....
Un-checked the built-in Sony Camera -- which gives me the "No cameras detected or selected Please connect camera(s) and click "here" message.
When I cllick, nothing happens.
I DISABLED the built-in camera -- which again gives me the "No Cameras Detected, "Click Here" window. When I "click", again, nothing happens.
I have searched online and in the forums for a solution without success.
I believe that the problem is something fairly simple; perhaps a missing driver or some sort of driver incompatibility. Has anyone else experienced this?
I can't even get off the ground if the program doesn't see the Kinect Camera. Yikes!
Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give me.
