Hi

New user here,

Just got two Kinects for windows and installed the driver but for some reason it is showing in my device screen one as kinect for windows and one kinect for xbox. I am 100% sure they are both kinect for windows, is this a driver issue?

I checked in my Device manager and it shows Kinect for Windows and when I expand it it has two different Kinect for Windows Cameras in there.

Hello

Please provide Device Manager screenshot with Kinect-related items expanded.
What driver do you use - KinectSDK or PrimeSense? Or are both of them installed?

Thanks for the reply!

The laptop is a Asus UX31E

I installed the Kinect SDK 1.6 drivers for kinect when I launched the iPiSoftware and it prompted that it was needed.
It appears that only the kinect that is connected to the right usb port shows up as the one for Xbox (I have swapped them to confirm this)
I get full 30fps on both when recording but I do not get all the options that I normally see on the one identified for windows. This makes me worried that hidden back end data might not be correct (I could be wrong).

Here are some pics, let me know what else you need! Thank you again :)

Fortunately, you are wrong about this :) Currently there are no differences between Windows and XBOX versions for recording or processing, just the lack of color settings for XBOX. So you can make recordings safely without worrying.

However, this is an issue in detection of Kinect version. I will appreciate if you help us to get out of it. In Device Manager, please open Properties of "Kinect for Windows Camera" device, go to "Details" tab and select "Device Instance Path" from combobox. Provide us with reported value for both Kinects. Of course, the most interesting is that connected to "problem" USB port you've discovered.
I've attached the screenshot depicting what we need. I do not have a Kinect at hand, so these are Xtion properties, but this is similar for Kinect.

Thank you.
Unfortunately, it's turned out that we need info not on the camera device, but Generic USB Hub that the camera is connected to. You should switch the Device Manager to Devices By Connection view (using menu View) to find that hub easily. It will be a node directly containing Kinect for Windows Camera device. See the attached screenshot. The other steps are the same as before - we need a value of Device Instance Path property.

Thanks. And for the second one?
We need both Kinects (when connected simultaneously and detected by iPi Recorder) to find the expected difference between them.
