Screenshot that I posted above - this is the case, both sensors are connected and displayed in Device Manager, but only one sensor can be seen in the recorder.

You skimmed the key words Devices By Connection view. By default Device Manager lists devices in Devices By Type view. You need to switch it to Devices By Connection view using menu View. Then expand the device tree so that both PrimeSense devices are visible - it's interesting to see whether they are in fact located under different USB controllers.

(On a x55a both sensors are determined by the operating system at the same time Image, however, the recorder detects only one. Looks like a software problem, right?)

Of course, the problem may be located not in device's firmware, but in drivers. Or in other vendor supplied middleware we are relied upon.

Should not that have worked in the case of the laptop?
I reasoned like this: two sensors, two usb controller, one usb 2.0, another - usb 3.0. It had to work. And it is not working. And I very much doubt that anyone could warn me of a similar situation.

This might be a correct conclusion if all the PCs used the same USB chipsets. Unfortunately (from compatibility point of view), it's not true.

Perhaps you will have some recommendations for choosing the model?

Using the same service as you did, this is the list from which I would choose: market.yandex.ru
Key features:
  • Modern dual-core CPU to handle recording: Core i3/i5
  • Large capacity HDD to store records: 500+ GB
  • Built-in Bluetooth adapter for using motion controllers (I saw your interest in this)
  • Pre-installed 64-bit Windows 7 (currently recommended OS)
  • ExpressCard slot
  • At least 2 USB 2.0 ports to ensure compatible connection at least for one of the Xtions
I recommend you to also look at specs and reject those models based on Intel HM7x chipsets, as you've encountered problem with one of them.
If you plan to experiment with PS Eye cameras and this laptop later, then CPU not less than i5 and 7200rpm HDD or SSD.
If you are going to do processing on this laptop, then add descrete video (NVIDIA or AMD) to requirements, though adequate processing speed is far cheaper achieved with the desktop.

Currently we have no plans on mixed configurations.

As expected, there were difficulties with the return and exchange. Spent on it all day.

It was very difficult to choose the configuration according to these criteria.
First, the notebooks with a slot for expresscard - very rare and they are - old. This standard has been superseded by usb 3.0, a development organization ceased to exist.
Secondly, most laptops are created exactly on the chipset Intel HM77. Among all laptop models, presented in the store was only 2 that meet the requirements (laptops with expresscard slot, not at all, vendors and service center staff claimed they had not seen such laptops for about 3 years)
In the end, I agreed with the consultant shop who helped me that I would come to the store, taking the sensors, and we try to plug them in place.

after the test I chose a laptop dns a35fe, which was two and a half times more expensive than the original! had to pay for a bunch of useless garbage. it is based on the chipset intel hm76, it 4 usb ports and 4 controllers. It seems that the sensors are working in any combination.

Great you have an opportunity to test - it's the best way to choose a laptop to work with iPi Recorder.
So, the problem was not in incompatibility of Xtions with integrated Intel USB 3.0 controllers, as they work perfectly with HM76 chipset. I can suppose that it was because in fact both USB ports on the previos laptop fall to the same USB 2.0 controller. Because it looks like Intel implemented its USB 3.0 controllers in such a way that they do not serve USB 2.0 traffic by themselves but redirect it to the neighbour USB 2.0 controller.
That is why I asked you to provide a screenshot for Device Manager in Devices By Connection view to see which USB controller hosts which device. It's still interesting to see with your new laptop. Especially when you say it works in any [USB ports] combination.

when I bought my new computer , a core i7 made with intel parts, my motherboard has 2 usb 3.0 wich mean one usb 3 controller. but when attach the ps3 cams , all when to hell. like 200 frames dorpps and increaese. I even had 3ds max issues , it crashes a lot. the thing is that intel 2012 drivers that comes with their products, motherboard specifically, has bugs. the solution was simple. I took the entire computer to where I bough it and the techinican just update the bios and all the drivers for each part of the computer that you can download from intel website. that solved everything. It was mainly bios bugs and usb 3.0 controllers and it´s also is a good idea to install the latest drivers for evrypart of your computer, usb, wifi, chipset, etc. I hope this might help you
