In general, depth cameras are a bit worse at tracking small details like feet than RGB cameras. However, Azure Kinect has pretty good actual resolution and accuracy of depth data. You can try a few things to improve on feet tracking:
- Toggle "Enable ground collisions" option at the Tracking tab.
- Place one of the cameras which sees feet a bit higher (like 1.5 m), looking down.
If a dance doesn't involve turns (e.g. a dancer is facing one direction) then 90 degrees placement may work better than 180 degrees.
Shiny/reflective surfaces are usually bad for depth cameras spoiling depth data. You can try covering the floor with some non-reflective fabric like a short-haired carpet.
I didn't quite get what do you mean by "shrinking". Do motions slow down, or speed up (decrease in time)? Or does the amplitude of motions lower?
A common issue is slightly increased speed on playback. It occurs if an actual frame rate during recording is lower than FPS value of set video mode. Check the statistics during recording and in recorded videos ("video info" pane when video is open in iPi Recorder).
Choosing output format depends on your pipeline - which animation program you use after iPi Mocap Studio etc. There is no preferred formats for specific kinds of motions.
