hello all

im about to try out your demo but im having some trouble recording the webcam footage, i think its down to my webcams not configuring correctly. so i am now considering buying new cameras to try the demo out, looking around i see that the ps3eye cameras are available pretty cheap (about 10 pounds on ebay).

im just wondering if you have all the controls for the ps3camera on a pc, eg exposure etc etc... because its for the playstation 3

is there any documentation of the setup for the ps3 eyecam and any other software required

i intend to use it for capturing martial arts so i expect ill need at least 3 cameras which is still quite an outlay to try a free demo but hey what can you do :)

thanks in advance for your swift response ( i cant wait to get started :P)

Sony PS3 Eye camera has very good auto-exposure/auto-gain feature so you won't really need manual exposure control for motion capture. With Sony PS3 Eye camera, you can be sure a proper exposure will be set for your selected frame rate.

Theoretically, we could provide individual camera controls (exposure, gain, contrast etc.) for Sony PS3 Eye camera in iPi Recorder since we supply our own camera driver (integrated in iPi recorder). (Internally, our driver already implements all these controls.) But we think Sony's auto-gain/auto-exposure does a better job then manual configuration by the user.

Pentium dual core 2.1 ghz is too slow to be able to compress 640x480 at high frame rate. This is a common problem with modern notebooks - the CPU is too slow.

You can record at higher frame rates on a fast desktop computer. An Intel Core2 dual-core CPU overclocked to 3.8 GHz is able to compress and record 640x480 multi-camera video at framerates up to 60 FPS.

Alternatively, you can use faster storage on your notebook. With a fast Solid-State Drive or an external SATA RAID you can record uncompressed video. But fast storage devices tend to be expensive as of now.

For your record, data rate of uncompressed 3-camera video at 640x480 at 60 FPS is more then 50 MB per second.
