Post subject:  my first impression and a few problems

Hi,

Yesterday I went to buy 4 ps3 eyes right after I learned about this software release. I did my first mocap and i was impressed at how the software could guess my exact position though I am aware of the many limitations of this sofware in production. We can't move too fast, can't capture 2 persons at the same time, can't occlude any part of the body by props, we have to wait for capture tracking computation etc.

I would like to post my result here, but I saved my final result yesterday night and now I can't open any video in ipi studio. Can it be because it is in evaluation mode or what?

I have to do more tests to see if ipi studio can be useful in production. So far I think the price should be more around 300$ because of the limitations. If you add facial motion capture and it work well you could increase the price to 600$. If we could capture more than one people and do facial capture then it would be worth 1000$.

May be you are right. But for example here http://www.di-o-matic.com/products/Software/Maskarad/#page=overview is software just for markerless facial motion capture and it costs $1.5K...

Hi Andrew, thanks for your answer!

For sure if there is no other cheaper option on the market you can charge more. I just learned that a basic Vicon full body mocap system is starting at a whopping 30,000-35,000$ (for a 7-8 camera system)! A cheaper option is the Optitrack foundation bundle at 6,000$!!! So finally yes maybe ipisoft is well worth the 995$! Please excuse me about that... It's just that I'm too poor!
