Hello, I'm curious about iPi and how well it works with Softimage. There is no mention of Softimage in the Wiki and I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has experience with using iPi mocap software with Softimage. I'm guessing for most people it would be a pretty basic "export the BVH, then use it" story but maybe people have something more interesting to share. We don't have any camera hardware at this time but I am thinking about taking the plunge so any kind of information about how well it might work for me or any other Softimage related experiences with this software would be appreciated, thanks. Hi Eric, Don't worry about taking a plunge. Just download the software and test it out. If you don't have any cameras, there are sample calibration and walk videos in the gallery that you can use to see how the software works and how you can apply it to your pipeline. There are also sample BVH files if you want to see how you'd import them into Softimage. |

Yes, the BVH formats DMC exports are reasonably standard. I've had very good luck loading them in Motion Builder, Messiah, Maya, Animeeple, Lightwave, and bvHacker. I imagine they will be fine in XSI too. |
