This is my first try with ipi. i have a avi of 3 cam data, when i open it in ipi, it divides into 5 screen instead of 3, so i am not able to set the actor on the avi data. can somebody help me on this please. sorry for my English. |

Hello, Here is more details of my problem... below is a link of ipi screen image, where one can see that on the menu there are 3 cameras but on screen it shows 5 camera which can be identify. https://picasaweb.google.com/ashishgrat ... 0412971042 as some steps are missing in ipi tutorial available on site, can someone post the link of proper basic step by step tutorial of ipi? Wow, that's really weird. It looks like you actually have five cameras of data so I'm not sure what's going on. What is your set up? Did you intend to shoot three or five cameras? If you intended three cameras, is it possible you unknowingly recorded extra data with two built-in computer web cameras? Was the video data recorded with iPi Recorder or assembled in another program? If you put these together in another applications, how did you layout the video panels? I'm just guessing of course, and I think you need to post a lot more info about this problem to get any helpful information. Your result is very unusual though and I think iPi Software may find this case interesting. I'm curious to learn what happened in that example myself so I hope you get this problem figured out. Good luck! G. P.S., steps for using iPi DMC are pretty straightforward. The iPi wiki should have all the info for calibration and tracking for both PS3 Eye and Kinect setups. Is there a specific step you have questions about? |

I have not setup anything so far, just started with a clip of 3 cameras which i got from youtube which link is mentioned below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cSLpqDr ... re=related If you checkout above link, you will find there is only 3 cam data is visible. I don't know if the guy who shot this clip have any other cam data or some other problem. I read ipi wiki, it is good to start with but can't find anything related to my problem. Thanks again |

Are you saying you downloaded the YouTube video and imported that into iPi for tracking? That's probably not going to work; the video needs to be laid out in a format and using a codec that iPi DMC understands; this YouTube video has been specifically formatted for presentation on YouTube (i.e., scaled with black bars added.) Also, you also need the calibration video for this scene before you can track the motion. Without the proper calibration data, even good motion video is completely useless. If you record your own calibration and motion video using Recorder, proper formatting is done for you automatically. If you prefer to composite individual cameras manually, you need to follow the same format using a compositing or video editing application and save the video using an acceptable codec. (IMO, it's more efficient to use Recorder.) If you're just looking for a test video to track in iPi DMC, I'm not sure where you can find one. The problem is that the video files Recorder creates tend to be too large for casual uploading and downloading. I would be happy to upload some sample but most of my own test files tend to be a bit long and not very 'generic'. When I have time I'll see about making a few simple/small files for general testing. That said, in my opinion the hard part of motion capture is not tracking, it's recording an acceptable calibration video and motion video. If you have acceptable video, tracking it pretty easy, so you may want to focus on being able to record your own data videos. Feel free to ask more questions and good luck! :) G. |

Greenlaw is right. You are using a YouTube video in wrong format (black bars on top and bottom). I achieved very nice result by using it. Now, can you tell me how many products will i need and cost (approx) of it to setup a little Mocap studio please? Thank you |
