Post subject:  Actor for download

Hi... My name is Marcos aka Xtaz.
I work with Hash´s Animation:Master since 1998 and now I'm diving into the mocap sea with Ipisoft.
Thanks for mrbones to introduce it in our forum (A:M Forum).
Obviously I have a lot of questions, and gradually I add them here for you enlighten me.
My first one is:

Are there other actors (to download) to use with Ipisoft ?

Thanks

Peace

Hi Marcos,

iPi DMC just outputs motion data--they do not provide downloadable 'actors' or characters. It's up to you to provide a rigged character and retarget the motion data to it. If you have your own rigged character, there are many ways to do this. For technical reasons I use Motion Builder but if your character is more or less humanoid, you can easily do this inside of iPi Studio.

Of course your rig needs be compatible with iPi DMC for this to work. Fortunately, iPi DMC uses a fairly standard motion capture rig, which is pretty easy to create in most 3D programs. If you're in a hurry, you can export a skeleton out of iPi Studio and use that as a basis for your rig. You'll need to do the actual rigging in your 3D program of choice and when it's ready, the character and rig can be imported into iPi Studio via FBX or DAE format.

In Lightwave 3D, I typically import only the motion data from a Motion Builder FBX file to a rigged character using a feature called Merge Only Motion Envelopes, and it works pretty flawlessly. (Transferring motion data from an iPi Studio FBX this way should work too.)

Sorry, I don't know what the process is in A:M but maybe this info will help you figure it out.
