Hi, we are some game developer startups with the goal of story-based games. We are going to use iPisoft DMC for one one month full-time. And we are going to document everything. So our Blog will have frequent updates on what we do to make it all happen: Seedcrystalgames We already did some research and tons of testing with the DMC, so there might be useful results for everybody. More infos are already on the blog. We rented a big room for the month and got some freedom in our schedule. Therefore, if there are any things you want us to try, please ask. I'll see what we can do. ps. I hope it's ok to post the link and that this is the right forum. If not the Admins can put it maybe in the right one. And I'm technically not new to the community, but our game studio and the event is. Alex |

Hey guys! Welcome to the forums! What you're doing sounds great! I am working on a university dissertation right now discussing markerless motion capture in games. I'm running a space about 8m by 8m so it looks pretty much the same as yours. Are you using PS Eyes or Kinect? From your floor plan I think I see positions for 4 cameras. I have done some testing relating to camera set ups, calibration and clothes. I should hopefully have those vids up in the next few days so i'll message you guys when they are done. Looking forward to updates! Oli |

Hi, Oli, thank you! We are using 4 ps3 eye-cams. There will also be a test with 6. The room is about 40 square meter. So that makes around 6m by 6m. (We are no students, so we actually had to rent a office room.) I'm looking forward to your vids. Have you had any good results aligning the feet to the ground? I'm still looking into this. |

Hey again I always find my foot tracking to be fine alignment wise. There are always some issues that need to be cleaned up but for the most part my feet are planted well and give a good result. I have had a lot of requests to try out 6 PS Eyes and make a vid on it but I don't think my basic license permits that. |

You could try the demo from the latest version. It can be used for one month. Anyway, we are definitely going to try 6 cams once. I'm sure that 4 cams are enough thou. |

Generally, I've had pretty good luck with feet tracking too. If you have a problem with mistracked feet, try applying stronger Configurable Jitter Removal on the legs than used elsewhere in the body. Be sure to 'bump' Trajectory Filter after running CJR, especially if you've used different CJR settings in different ranges throughout the motion. A different problem with the feet happens when the body twists in a certain way, which can cause the feet to rotate a little at the heels. This isn't actually a tracking issue, rather it happens because of the rotation limits in the hips and because there are no 'roll' bones in the legs. Unfortunately, it was explained by the developers a while back that the limits are set this way to prevent other potential problems from occurring. For now it's something you just have to live with or fix in another program if you can. (Easy to fix in Motion Builder BTW.) Luckily, this problem doesn't occur too often but I hope that when the developers have more time, they will revisit this issue. G. |

Hi, We have some (video)updates on our blog of the motion capture session, feel free to look at the news :). We also tried the new hand tracking system! http://www.seedcrystalgames.com/portal/motion-capture-with-hand-tracking/

Nice work guys disassembling those PS Moves :) It's a pity we cannot expect that every our user want to do that with his controllers. So we still should consider traditional scenarios of holding a controller in a hand or in an attachment. UPDATE: I think it won't be a much trouble for you to figure out how to firmly attach PS Move to the head, when we release head orientation support for motion controllers :) |

We will find a way for sure to attach the PS Move to the head :). Head orientation with motion controllers would be awesome. We just thought of that yesterday that it would be just great to have that! A question beforehand. If you know that now, how will be the "calibration" process. Will it be like that with the controllers in your hand, i.e. do you have to aim the controller on your head once at a camera for ipisoft studio to recognize. I ask because I have still another ps3 move controller around. I could make some test videos in our Studio, just to have them ready when your release head tracking. |
