Hello,

I am using iPi record to motion capture an actor that I then want add the bvh to a skeleton and then composite the 3d and the live action together.
I have tested this and am getting good results however the kinect seems to recording at 30fps and I can't seem to change it.
Can I set a frame rate to record in iPi? If not should I shoot my live ation at 30fps as well.

Thanks

H

Hi

Kinect does not support higher frame rates.
However, you can get the same output frame rate for animation and live video later:
  • Either change the frame rate of the video using video editing software.
  • Or change the animation frame rate using the animation editing software capable of interpolating between the key frames.

ok thanks. I am shooting Pal (25fps) live action so was hoping to set the kinect to 25fps instead of 30fps , so a lower frame rate. But can't find any settings to do this.
Guess will need to shoot live action at 30fps.

thanks

Kinect does not support 25fps.
However, many animation packages have a feature to change the output animation frame rate. For example, in 3DS Max:
http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-2F41BBF4-D9E7-4171-A369-EA45CAFAD147.htm,topicNumber=d30e216294
So you can adjust the animation after exporting from iPi Mocap Studio to desired 25fps.
