I have just purchased the standard edition of IPIsoftware and i'm very excited to try it out.
I was wondering if anyone has experience connecting 6 ps eyes to an Alienware?
It has 4 USB 3.0 outputs and as far as i can detect, 2 controllers.

We use a several years old Alienware M17x for recording with 6 PS Eyes. It has 2 USB 2.0 controllers and 1 USB 3.0 controller available through 3 USB 2.0 ports + 2 USB 3.0 ports. So, using a passive USB 2.0 hub we extend the total number of USB 2.0 ports and are able to connect 6 PS Eyes and a mouse. When using good quality USB repeater cables, all things run smooth.

If you have only two controllers, this may render impossible to use all 6 cameras at full 60fps. However, you may lower FPS to stay with the big number of cameras.

According to the manual all outputs should be USB 3.0
Is there a way to check that ?

Also , my alienware has the NVIDIA 680m graphics card. This will only influence rendering right ? not the capturing itself?

Hi ,

I have found the problem.
After browsing the alienware resource CD, i noticed that the USB 3 controller drivers weren't properly installed yet.

3 Cameras at full res and 60 FPS have no problem now.

In due time i will try 6.

Maybe this helps everyone else encountering the same issue :)
