I started by using a single sensor Xtion and everything was great. However, a sensor could not satisfy my needs and I bought another one. And then I found out that the chipset in my laptop, although it has two USB 2.0 host, apparently unable to correctly recognize the two devices at once XTION, as stated in Article http://wiki.ipisoft.com/Quick_Start_Gui ... ion_sensor
And I would like to ask - would solve the problem of connecting two sensors Xtion to my laptop with the "wrong" chipset, if I plug the sensors via an external USB hub?
If the answer is - yes, what equipment would you recommend?

Did you try all the USB ports in your laptop? If yes, then you need an external USB controller, not hub. Any modern ExpressCard USB 3.0 controller should do the work. If you need specific recommendation - I have a good experience with ST Lab controllers, though we have not yet tried Xtions with ExpressCards.

My laptop has 3 USB ports and I tried all six combinations. Every time I got a "bad" connection option. When I connected a single sensor, each of those whom I have worked in any port.

I understand that the use of the ExpressCard would solve the problem, but it is not an external device, right? In my laptop there is no such slot.
I assumed that if a USB hub situation is similar to network devices - there are "hubs" that are "transparent" for other USB devices, because they use the interface to the laptop and there are "hubs" that have their own interface. USB Hub Controller, something like that (which is technically correct to call the USB Router). I tried to ask the consultants computer parts stores, but they just rolled their eyes in astonishment. Therefore, I decided to ask for your forum - perhaps someone had a similar situation?

Expresscards are for legacy notebooks, new one do not have such connectivity…they have the usb3.0, but on a single hub. How to solve this problem in general? I think ipisoft has something to doo, to solve the connectivity problem. OK then bandwith rules. :)

We can do nothing about hardware limitations. We plan to add support for distributed recording eventually, which will allow to use a bunch of "slim modern" laptops to record from many cameras.
However, at the moment you need to use a computer matching specific requirements for recording. You can simply use any modern Windows desktop. Or, if you really need the portability, then look for an inexpensive Windows laptop with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports - this guarantees the availability of at least 2 controllers.

I think installing PCI expansion board with USB 3 controller also would solve the problem, but at my house just is not enough space to record movements, I decided that I need a "mobile solution" to record motion capture, and therefore - laptop, tripod, USB extension cable and everything else.

Thanks for your feedback. In the meantime i found out A lenovo L540 should do without expresscard, because it has one usb 2.0 and one usb 3.0. Only with xtion cameras the 3.0 patch to apply.
