If I don't have USB 3.0 ports, would this PCIe card work for 2 Kinect v2 sensors: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product ?

One can't run 2 Kinects v2 on a single PC due to limitations of Kinect SDK.

For connecting a single Kinect v2 I would recommend this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6815158388

Microsoft states that Kinect v2 works with Intel and NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 chipsets. Though that does not mean it could not work with USB chipsets from other vendors, it is better to take a card based on NEC chipset to be on the safe side. The specs of the one I've suggested do mention NEC chip.

Hmm.. I just realized that not only Kinect 2 needs Windows 8+, but probably also isn't good when 360 deg. capture is needed :/

So I guess I need to look into having multiple PS3 Eye cameras (which sounds like royal pita to setup and get working, judging by the forum posts).

I am wondering if there is a USB 3.0 hub that has actual USB controllers. It would be nice to plug it into a laptop and connect several PS3 cams to it. This way it would be a mobile mocap studio which I could use anywhere I could find large enough space.

Any word of advice ?

Two Kinects v2 may be quite adequate for 360 degrees capture, if motions are not very complex or fast. However, you'll need a couple of Win8+ PCs for recording.

A single laptop usually can handle up to 4 PS Eye cameras. This is better for tracking quality than single Kinect, and sufficient for a wide range of motions. You are right that PS Eye setup is a bit harder in use, and also it requires more time for processing.

For PS Eye cameras any USB port fits, 3.0 is not required. If your laptop has both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, then 4 cameras should work - two in 2.0 and other two in 3.0.
In laptops, you can add USB controller with ExpressCard only, but modern laptops do not have this slot. USB hub simply adds more USB ports (which is often needed when connecting many cameras to laptop), not controllers.

No, unfortunately. This is a limitation of Microsoft Kinect SDK v2. We can only guess about the reasoning for this limitation. I think it is imposed by the software side.
Maybe MS will allow multiple Kinect v2 in later releases of Kinect SDK. At least they gave some hints about that during pre-release stage.
