Hi all, my name is Dennis and I run an indie games company with my mates called 'Moonville Entertainment'. Check out http://moonvilleentertainment.com/ for more. We'd like to use iPiSoft Mocap for our current project. The problem is that our budget is very limited and we haven't got a big room to capture mocap. Therefore we aim for the 'Express' version which supports one Kinect and motion controllers. I already purchased one Kinect v2 (including Windows adapter) and I plan to buy multiple PS Move controllers for better hand and head tracking. So the question is: Would this setup be enough for capturing things like a walk cycle or crouching? Sorry for this noobish question, but I have no experience with this. All I see is that people are using multiple camera setups, so I got doubts to get good results with one Kinect. Best regards Dennis |

Hi Single sensor is sufficient for capturing relatively simple motions. Main condition for good tracking is no body parts are occluded from the view of a sensor. This usually implies that an actor is primarily facing a sensor, so both arms and legs are well visible. Walking, running, jumping (within a short distance) is OK. Crouching (if not too deep) should also be OK, but may require experimenting with sensor position to ensure good visibility of actor's limbs. |
