I just saw this early test from Brekelmans using Azure Kinect. The tracking quality is rough but pretty impressive for "four hours of coding." The most notable feature is that the device appears to be tracking as many as four people when they're not occluded. To me, this is a promising sign for the future of Kinect sensors. As I know the iPi Soft team is also experimenting with this device, I can't wait to see what they come up with. (Not that I'm ready to replace my Kinect 2 sensors yet.) :) |

Ok, I'm ready. I received two Azure Kinect sensors last night. I'll post a comparison report and results after I spend time using these with iPi Mocap Studio. Stay tuned! :) |

Sorry, it's been super busy with work and family lately. I'll try to get back to Azure testing over the weekend. (If I don't just sleep all day from exhaustion...that seems be how I spent the last couple of weekends.) :) |

I'm probably gonna be buying two azure's soon, hopefully I'll be able to find some more test footage to back my purchase. |

Sorry, I've been away for awhile but here's a quick followup: Sadly, my workstation died almost immediately after my last post and since then I've been using only my laptop for work. This puts dual capture off the table for now. I hope to get a new workstation pretty soon so I can get back to work on my project. Will keep this thread posted with news about my progress. |

Yay, I'm almost back in business! I couldn't afford a new workstation because one of our cats needed dental surgery last week which mostly wiped out my 'new computer' savings. But today I replaced a few parts in the dead computer, installed a clean copy of Windows 10, and the computer is up and running again. Even better actually, since I replaced the system drive with a 1tb m2 stick, which makes it boot up so much faster now. Now I begin the tedious task of re-installing all my software. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll be mostly done by next weekend. :) Anyway, I should have some multi-Azure Kinect demo videos ready shortly afterward. Wish me luck. |
