Post subject:  Kinect Camera purchase question

As I don't have an XBOX 360 -- I see that I can purchase the camera with one game:

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/mss ... /list.true

or even at Walmart :

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Kinect-Sensor ... 0/15066156

My question for those that know is this -- if I do that, do I still need to purchase the additional power supply?

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/mss ... /list.true

Can't really find much information on "what comes in the box" as I am not at all familiar with this camera setup.

Thanks in advance,

~~Deuce

You will very very likely need the power supply. The new Kinects have an custom USB connector to the xbox that powers it.

The PSU provides a socket that matches this to the Kinect and then power to it. The other end is then standard USB.

Ironically, I found the cheapest source for me to be direct from Microsoft fulfillment and was very fast too.

I bought mine at walmart,

I previously went to see the price and accidently moved it to another shelve.

Then upon returning to buy a few weeks later I thought they were out of them,

Nope, It was right were I put it, Next to the Playstations (where I hid it behind the other boxes, heh heh).

If you buy the Kinect at Walmart by itself, It came with the power cord adapter thing that you need.

Cheers

I can validate that information. If you purchase the 'Kinect camera with Kinect adventures" - you do get the power supply as well as the adapter.

Got mine at Gamestop. No worries - Hope this does help anyone else who wants to get this for their MoCap setup.
