That's right, Morgan MJPEG works with iPi Studio on Vista 64-bit. But it does not work with iPi Recorder on Vista 64-bit. iPi Studio uses DirectShow to decode videos, while iPi Recorder uses VfW (older standard). Seems like DirectShow assigns different priorities to Morgan MJPEG codec and default Microsoft MJPEG codec depending on OS (Vista 64-bit and Vista 32-bit).

We'll put extended information about codecs into upcoming update of iPi Recorder so that users could choose what is more suitable for their OS.

Thanks for the clarification...I was a little confused there by the previous post. :)

I have a question about the layout of camera windows in iPi Recorder and how iPi Studio interprets the video.

Does iPi Studio expect cameras panels to be in a particular sequence? In my last session, I accidentally had the camera panels arranged left-right-front-back, instead of in a circular sequence like front-left-back-right. I was wondering because I'm having a lot of difficulty calibrating this session; the point cloud for the light pen looks correct, but none of the points are green, and the camera positions for all but the first camera are way off. Everything about the sequence seems okay, expect for the order of the cameras in the video.

I'm going to rearrange the video panels in proper order through a compositing program and see if this calibrates better. I'll let you know what happens.

Also, does it matter if the panels are arranged in a clockwise order versus a counter-clockwise order?

Clockwise order versus a counter-clockwise order should not make any difference.

For 3-camera setup, it helps to have front (central) camera as the first. I am not sure about 4-camera setup - as of now, we ourselves don't know what is the best method. Better/more reliable calibration for 4-camera systems is still in development.

Okay, thanks Michael. That information will be helpful in my next round of tests this weekend. I think I will suspend working with four cameras and go back to three until I hear something new.

I imagine you may be tired of hearing this next request but: any news on when we might expect the next update? :)

Best regards,

Greenlaw
