I have a Canon ZR850 video camera and a Logitech web cam from a couple years ago... would these be able to work together? Is it better if all the cameras are the same? What are the traits of cameras that make them work better with this application. I read in another post about exposure control in reference to a webcam. How do I know if my video camera handles exposure control?

Currently our multi-camera system only provides tools for recording multi-camera synchronized video using USB webcams. Using Canon ZR850 + Logitech web cam is theoretically possible (see discussion on our "Cameras" and "Tutorials" forums) but is not very practical.

It is definitely better if cameras are the same model. This results in higher accuracy due to better optical and color calibration.

Working exposure controls are available in recent Logitech and Philips webcams.

Other manufacturers (like Microsoft and Creative) may declare support for exposure control but we found it to be broken in models we tested.

Recommended camera is Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000. It has excellent sensor and optics and is very practical for markerless MoCap.
